What You Can Do

Become a Friend

I thought I was a Friend, I have a library card.  There is a difference between having a library card and joining the Friends.  Anyone in Harris County can have a library card.  Harris County Taxes pay for a lot, but not for all our library offers! The Friends work closely with the Library staff to determine what special needs they may have beyond the County budget. By joining the Friends, your membership contribution makes a difference that benefits you and the entire community.

Lobby Books

Donate your gently used books to the Library.  The Friends sell the books in the Lobby of the library for a nominal fee. The library accepts adult and children books in hardback, paperback, English and foreign languages.  Items not accepted include computer and software instruction manuals, encyclopedias, and textbooks.  Please limit your donated items to no more than three boxes and/or bags.  Donated books are accepted by library staff members anytime during the library's hours of operation.  Proceeds from the books are used to fund various activities at the library.

Volunteer

Volunteer with the Friends in a variety of ways.  However, the Friends does not offer opportunities as a "library" volunteer

Sort donated books
A group of volunteers meet on Friday mornings at the Library throughout the year and determines the future of our generously donated books.

Solicit donations of plants and coupons from neighborhood merchants to support our Annual Plant and Book Festival.  Also the Festival needs people to manage the Membership Table and assist with plant sales.

Shop at Kroger/Randalls

Contribute by linking your grocery loyalty cards to the Friends. Every time you shop and use your loyalty card at Kroger or Randalls, the stores will contribute a percentage of your eligible purchases to the Friends of the Spring Branch-Memorial Library at no additional cost to you!

Kroger--You must enroll in Kroger's Community Rewards program starting on August  1 every year for purchases starting September 1.   Customers must have a registered Kroger Plus card account to link to The Friends.     Then    register your card following the directions on the Community Rewards website.      The Friends'   ID  number is    DU659.
No card?  No worries!     You can  get a   new Kroger Plus card  online or at any Customer Service desk and link your card to    the   Community Rewards program.

Randalls
Through  the  Randalls Good Neighbor Program:  When you check out with your loyalty card, ask the cashier to link your card with the number  2194.  After that initial registration, your card is automatically linked to The Friends for all subsequent qualifying purchases.  You will not need to give the number again and it will not expire.
